Re: Outlook Express installation question
Ron Canazzi
Hi Mike,
This is a better way because you don't have to play around with system settings and hidden and system protected system files. Just because a file path is hidden does not mean that if you know the path and can manually type or paste it in that you can't access to it. You surely can. When I used Outlook Express back in the day, this is the way that I always backed up my Outlook Express settings every few weeks. That way I never lost mail or accounts or anything. If you copy the entire contents of that folder to a safe place, even if you have a system crash requiring a reformat, you just paste that folder content back into the appropriate folder structure and all your old e-mail and account settings are in your new installation. Another way to access all your Outlook Express
Store folders if you need to back them up or need to restore a default
folder.
1. With Outlook Express open press, Control, Shift + O, to open OE options. This can also be done by pressing, Alt + T, then pressing the letter, O. 2. Now press, Control + tab, to navigate through
the various settings pages and stop on the, Maintenance page, which is the last
page in options. To get there quicker after opeing options press, Control,
Shift + Tab, to get to the Maintenance page.
3. Tab to the, Store folder .... button, and press
the spacebar. You'll hear Store location dialogue, & you'll be on an
Okay button. So tab 2 times and you'll hear, Your personal message store
is located in the following folder: read only edit and right here will be a long
file path, an example is below.
C:\Users\mike\AppData\Local\Identities\{07026D06-43CA-40DB-B8A7-CB9203E539A8}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express
4. You want to copy the full file path so you can paste this file path into
the Run dialogue which is accessed by pressing Windows key + R, pasting the
file path then, pressing enter.
This will place you in the folder of the email account / identity you're currently using. This folder contains all the Outlook Express DBX files for this account. If you have more than 1 email account / identity you'll need to do all these steps for each identity, but using the steps I posted earlier you can get to all your identities folders using that file path to make things faster, but this is only if you have multiple identities that you need to access. question Here you go, this is where you'll find all the
folders for backing up your OE files & messages. There's another way
of doing this and I'll post this 2nd method later today:
To find all Identities for OE in
Windows10, you need to press Windows key + E, to go to, This PC, then press, Alt
+ F, then press the letter, O, to open Folder options, then control + tab, to
the View tab. Now tab to the Tree View , arrow down to show hidden files
& folders, press the spacebar to turn this on, arrow down to Hide protected
operating system files, press the spacebar to turn this off, say Yes to the
warning dialogue, tab to apply, press the spacebar, & tab to okay &
press the spacebar. You need to do this so all files & folders will
show.
Now press enter on, App data, press enter on,
Local, and navigate to, Identities. In here is where all your identities /
email accounts are stored.
Or follow the file path below.
Press enter on the identity you want to work with, then press enter on the Microsoft folder Press enter on the Outlook Express folder, & this is where you will find all your .DBX files. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

question I like to keep all my e-mail files backed up; how would I find the storeage folder so I can manually back it up? Thanks, Heather
From:
Mike B
To my knowledge the Protected Storage component cannot be backed up as an individual file, so to speak. That's why if the protective storage component gets corrupted for whatever reason Outlook Express needs to be reinstalled. We've been running the XPRunas version of OE for many years on several different computers running both Windows 7 & 10, and I can only recall 1 time when I had to reinstall OE because of a protected storage component failure. That 1 time was with an older version many years ago when this Rafail dude was still trying to get the coding right to work with Windows 7, 8 & 10.

Yes, the Apex uses Keyweb, and the Touch Plus uses a version of Chrome. So
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
if those devices are your way to go on-line, you don't need to choose a browser. If you're using a Windows PC, this issue is more urgent, since Internet Explorer is supposedly no longer supported and, so the error message I get on the PC now and then tells me, will quit working at some future point. We're not to that point yet. So I am using IE, with Chrome as an option. Susie "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt

Re: smart television

Hello, I got my converter box off amazon. I also got 3.5 head phone jack to connect my speakers to the converter box. Here is the link if you are looking for the same thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDQ6HG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So with the fire stick, plugg in the fire stick to the ac adaptor and than plugg it in to the converter box. So the 3.5 conector is for the set of speakers that go to the converter box. I thought 3.5 was better than relying on Bluetooth that can lose connection and you are left with out audio till someone resets up the Bluetooth off the fire stick; a sighted assistant and than you have to have a visual screen to work that out. my speakers are usb powered with a 3.5 connection. I plug my speakers in a usb hub to power them and use the 3.5 connector to connect to the converter box. So it works out great. Amazon accessibility cant seem to rap their brains over this one; they still cant believe a blind person can operate a firestick without a screen woe! Now if only they had a remote control with usb powered speakers. Some times the audio gets louder depending on the app like you tube or amazon prime or netflix. So it would have been nice to control the audio with a remote control for the speakers. But, if you do have a smart tv, the fire stick 4.k remote is supposed to work on the tv to control the volume level. But, not worth the money it would cost like over100 dollars vurses the 50 dollars I spent on my set up. I bought my firestick when it was on sale for 15 dollars and the converter box was 22 dollars and the 3.5 connecter was 5 dollars; less than 50 dollars woe! But if you want something more like the fire tv q, that has room for backing things up, you can use the same set up to do the same thing! Cheers Heather

Re: which browser to choose?
Gene
There is no reason to kick and scream. Why not try another browser to see
if there is any reason to. After that, you can use whatever browser you
want but you shouldn’t let fear itself, as Roosevelt said, determine your
choice. Browsing is identical in any browser that supports the Virtual PC
Cursor or browse mode. If you want to change settings, you will have to
learn a new interface, but it will likely not be difficult or very
difficult. I doubt you change settings, or that you do to any
extent. You will have to learn to work with book marks but again, that
shouldn’t be difficult. You learned it in one browser, you can learn it in
others. And I doubt IE will be supported for more than a year or two, and
during this time, it will work on fewer and fewer web pages. Better to try
another browser now so you don’t learn under pressure. And as I said, you
can use whatever browser you want after you try it.
Use control l in the other browsers, not control o, to move to the place
where you open web pages, type an address, press enter, and try working with the
page or pages you work with on the site. . You will see that it is
almost identical or identical. Some sites work better in one browser some
work better in another. Most work as well in whichever one you use.
