Hi Laz,

Thanks for the info.
My Victor Strean warranty expired about 6 months ago.
I'll stick to s d cards.

Cheers,

Monte, If the thumb drive is larger than 32GB you'll have to format it as FAT32 so the Victor Stream can see it. I recommend you just use an SD card though instead of a thumb drive as that charging port design isn't the most reliable thing in the world and unless your Stream is still under warranty it'll cost you a pretty penny to have it fixed.

Stay safe,

Laz

Re: aph light touch brailler?

Josh Kennedy

I figured out the problem with the electric perkins brailler. It was user error. I was not putting equal pressure on the keys, probably confusing the electronics resulting in very faded dots or no dots at all. Once I made sure to use equal pressure on all brailler keys for the dots I wanted to emboss, it worked perfectly and I got 25 lines of 40 cells of great quality braille on some leftover braille embosser paper I have around here. well I am glad it turns out it was user error, and the electric brailler will work just fine and I can keep it and also recommend it to people wanting a very light touch perkins brailler and the ability to write a bit faster. I think it also goes for the standard non-electric perkins metal brailler as well, making sure to use equal key pressure when writing gives the best quality braille dots. the electric perkins brailler is also made of sturdy durable metal.

Re: Zoom info?

Use the short cut alt h to move to and expand the chat wihndow. Both actions will occur simultaneously.

You are now in the ;place where you type. It won't say the expected things but you are there.
Type and if you need to hear it, tab or shift tab, then tab back again.

If you want to send it to everyone, press enter in the place where you typed.
If you want to send it to a particular person, shift tab two or three times and you will be in a place where you can up and down arrow and hear thingsw like send to. I think you will have as many choices as there are participants plus the default all option but I'd have to play with it more.

Do you know about the test meeting where you can play with and look through the interface?

Re: Victor Reader Stream Question

Laz

Hi Vicki,

The amount of internal storage depends on when the Stream was
purchased. When it first came out it had 2GB. That was later increased
to 4GB and in the last four years it has been 8GB. Of course one gets
less than that for actual use, for example with the 8GB of internal
memory one ends up with less than 6GB to begin with before one starts
filling it up with content.

I hope that helps.

Stay safe,

Laz

Re: Victor Reader Stream Question

Vicki, as far as storage, I don't know the internal memory capacity.  As for external storage, it depends upon the size of the SD card that you have.  The Stream does not have a browser so it can't access web pages in the normal way.

Funny you should mention NVDA. I've been trying to figure out how to build that into the recovery disk but have not yet done that. We'll have to suffer with Narrator for now. ;-)

From the article at https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/tbwinrecmd_tutorial.htm, Appendix 7 - Customizing TBLauncher:

AccessibilityOpts - Controls the following accessibility options:
0 - No accessibility programs run on startup
1 - Run Narrator
2 - Run OSK (On-Screen Keyboard)
3 - Run both Narrator and OSK
Note: Narrator is only supported in TBWinRE based on Windows 10 1703 or later.

Example: AccessibilityOpts=1

You should never ask people to "share" software which you can obtain yourself. You never know where they got it, how old it is, etc., etc.

Hi Walter,

Let's start with the graphics setting first:
1. Open the Jaws quick settings with, Insert + V, and navigate to the graphics settings.
2. See if you can up or down arrow to the other settings, if so press the, F6, key 1 time and this should put you back to where you can press the spacebar
to toggle through the settings.
3. Press the spacebar to the preferred setting, tab to the Okay button and press enter to save / close.
Note: Pressing the, F6 key, switches the settings to be navigated between a combobox and using the spacebar to toggle through them.  Whatever the correct
lingo is for this I don't know, but just press the F6 key to experiment.

Now for putting files and folders into list view:
1. Press, Windows key + E, to open ThisPC or Windows Explorer.
2. Open the context menu with the applications key or Shift + F10.
3. On the, View submenu, press enter or right arrow to open, down arrow to, List, and press enter.  Pressing enter will take you out of the context menu.
4. Again open the context menu with the applications key or Shift + F10.  On the, Sort by submenu, press enter or right arrow to open, and you want both
the, Name and Ascending, items checked.
5. Again open the context menu with the applications key or Shift + F10.  Go down to the, Group by submenu, open it and you want, None, selected here.
6. Make sure nothing is selected and press, Alt + F, then press the letter, O, to open Folder options, and, Control + tab, to the, View tab / page.
7. You should hear, View Page You can apply this view (such as Details or Icons) to all folders of this type.  Folder views Reset Folders Button.  Press
the spacebar and choose the, Yes, option tab to, Okay, and press enter to save / close.
8. Now go to your Documents folder and check your file and folder View settings and if they're not the same use the steps above to do the same .

Take care and stay safe.  Mike.

Hi all.  I have two questions the first is about the view in Win10.  I understand that the default view in Win10 is details but I am used to working with list views.  In Win10 how can I change all folders to list view and to make that view permanent?

The second question is about JAWS.  In previous versions I could change things such as graphics by doing insert +V and then looking for graphics and change the setting via the spacebar. However now I'm using JAWS 2020 I can do an insert +v but when I find graphics the space bar has no effect.  How do I change these settings please.

Any help appreciated.  I am using Win10 and JAWS 2020.  Walter.
