Re: Netflix and descriptive content

Hi All,

Has Netflix.com made the web-based interface for Windows pc's
accessible? The last time I tried it I couldn't access the video
controls. They were using Microsoft's Silverlight. Also, some of the
menus on the website were inaccessible. If you choose a series, you
could see where they had links to view episodes, However, they were
unclickable.

I know they supposedly made big changes since the release of they're
series "dare devil", but I've only heard good things fromapple users.

Regards,
Blaster

Thanks, Michael. I'll take a good look. :)
I can't wait.

Here's another way to find out how many contacts you have.
Go in to your phone app. At the bottom of the screen, there are 4
categories. From left to right they are:
favorites, recents, contacts, and keypad. Double tap the contacts button.
Do a 3 finger swipe up and VO should say the number of the contact you're
on, followed by the total.
When I did this on my phone, it said 8 of 57.
If this doesn't work, do a 3 finger swipe down. You should get the same
result.

Hi to everyone. I have a question regarding the contact list on the
iPhone
6. To explain! I was chatting to a friend last night who has the iPhone
6
and she was trying to explain how to discover how many contacts one has on
the phone. While in All Contacts she goes to the bottom and flicks from
right to left until she comes to "Favourites." She then flicks left once
more and she is told "all contacts, 127 contacts." When I did the same
thing, I just went from favourites straight to my last contact and wasn't
informed how many contacts I had. Regardless of how many times I tried
this, I always went from Favourites to my last contact in the list. She
said she was able to get this information with her iPhone 5 and I thought
it
might just might b that since the 5c is a cut down version of both the 5
and
5s that it didn't have that feature. Now, when in the Apple store and
getting my new phone set up I mentioned this to the young woman who was
helping me and she couldn't find how to get that information either. She
said I should be able to get it but despite going through all the
settings,
she couldn't remember how it was done. It isn't a critical thing but it
would be helpful to know how many contacts I had on the phone. Does
anybody
have any ideas? Walter.

Re: Does any one make a pocket size Blue Tooth speaker?

James Bentley

I looked around on the net for an hour or so with no luck.  So, I decided to just ask on this list.  Glad some one had already done the searching for me.  I’ll post some kind of a review here after I use it for a few days.

I can’t really go wrong for $28.00, with free shipping and no State sales tax.  I purchased a neck lanyard to bring the price up to $35, to qualify for Amazon’s free shipping.  I’ll just send it back if it isn’t the right pocket BlueTooth speaker for me.  But, it did have very good reviews.

Hi Thomas,

The Bluetooth speaker that you bought should sound better than the one that I just ordered especially for music.  But, I wanted some thing that I could wear on a neck lanyard or stick in my shirt pocket.  I just am interested in listening to mono audio books and using the speaker phone mode with FaceTime on my IPod.  I am asuming that it will beat the sound of the IPod at least a little.

Your link from amazon lead me to several interesting models if I decide to send the speaker that I ordered back, but I am guessing that it will meet my needs.

LTD 4g router

Pablo Morales

Hi all, I have a iPhone 5s, my phone provider is AT&T, and it works fine. My problem is with the hotspot. The connection from my tablet to my iPhone is not very stable. I noticed that to allow the connection, I have to unlock my phone, and then I need to find the wifi signal of my iPhone in my tablet. Well, it is very uncomfortable, but it is ok. But sometimes my tablet lose the internet signal, without reason. In a few words, I can’t trust so much in my hotspot, and I have been thinking in a secondary option.

So what about a 4g LTD router?

Anybody here can suggest me a small, portable 4g ltd router?

Thanks

Re: Questions about NVDA

Dean Martineau <topdot@...>

When you go into the synthesizers list, you will be offered all the ones resident on your system. ESpeak comes with NVDA. You may have various Microsoft voices depending on your Windows version.

Nobody can tell you what is best because speech is an extremely individual thing. You'll want to take the time to try the ones that are already on your computer to see if any of them work for you, then if they don't, you might want to spend money on something.

So pick a synthesizer from the list.
ESpeak is very robotic, but very responsive, and some people like it. I'm not one of them. Whichever synthesizer you choose, don't despair if its default voice sounds horrible. Exit the dialog, and go into the Voices dialog. Here you can arrow through all the voices offered by that synthesizer. If you chose ESpeak, people have said that they prefer the UK version even if they're from the States. If you have windows 8.1 or later, you'll have some good Microsoft voices. Change to a different synthesizer, and try what it offers.

If you want to see others, do a Google Search for NVDA tutorials. The
NVDA site isn't organized well and it's often much more efficient and
effective to do a Google search for what you are looking for.
As another example, if you are looking for additional voices for NVDA,
searching for NVDA voices will show many results and searching for
NVDA synthesizers will show results to though perhaps not as many.

Please any help will be appreciated.

Re: limiting ipad updating

Adrien Collins <adriencollins22160@...>

Hi

Yes that is the reason why I need to limit it, I had 16
up-dates and it took hours as I share the connection with my
parents and it was very slow. I hadn't thought of doing it
that way.

Regards

Adrien

The only way I know to specify how many you'd want
downloading at once
would be to manually select the app's update buttons. When
you select
the updates tab in the app store, you can flick right beyond
the update
all button and manually select applications for updating.
That should
work to let you only grab a few at a time. I use this to
only update
certain ones, but, it does help to only grab one or two,
especially if
I'm on my 4g connection.
Take care.

Hi

It is the number of apps, it is downloading 5 at once and
it
takes for ever, I wondered if I could limit it to two at a
time. For the ios up-dates, I always do that via itunes on
my pc.

Do you mean the version of IOS or the updating of your
applications? If
the apps, yeah, you can control which ones are updated.
You
can even
update them one at a time, if you really wanted to.

I just tried to duplicate this on my iphone 6 and it worked perfectly.

I just hit the favoritesbutton amd did a one finger flick to the left
and it announced the total number of contacts.

bottom and flicks from right to left until she comes to "Favourites."
She then flicks left once more and she is told "all contacts, 127
contacts." When I did the same thing, I just went from favourites
straight to my last contact and wasn't informed how many contacts I
had. Regardless of how many times I tried this, I always went from
Favourites to my last contact in the list. She said she was able to
get this information with her iPhone 5 and I thought it might just
might b that since the 5c is a cut down version of both the 5 and 5s
that it didn't have that feature. Now, when in the Apple store and
getting my new phone set up I mentioned this to the young woman who
was helping me and she couldn't find how to get that information
either. She said I should be able to get it but despite going through
all the settings, she couldn't remember how it was done. It isn't a
critical thing but it would be helpful to know how many contacts I had
on the phone. Does anybody have any ideas? Walter.

Hi. I have tried that, assuming I was doing it the correct way but it made no difference. When I went to the store the assistant uploaded all settings from the 5c to the cloud and then downloaded them again to the iPhone 6. I can only assume that the settings are 5c settings, if I had perhaps manually input my contacts again that it would have worked. Walter.

Try sliding back-and-forth with one finger or what is sometimes called ‘explore by touch’.

I have the IPhone 6 and I can see the number of contacts by either flicking
up from the bottom or down from the last contact.

It did not work for another member, but you may wish to try the Fix it wizard/removal tool in this Microsoft article.
Just search for the phrase
Fix it for me
