When you are in a message body, open quick settings with JAWS key v. Look
down the settings, and change what you want to change. When you find
something you want to change, such as block quotes, use the space bar to
move through the available settings. You may repeat the settings as often
as you want by continuing to press the space bar. Once you have changed
whatever settings you want to change for as many items as you wish, press
enter to save the changes and return you to the program window you were
previously in.

Your home computer may not be indicating bloc quotes because you are not
reading mail as html at home. On your friends computer, messages are being
read as html and you are in the virtual pc cursor.

I have a second Jaws question. On the computer I'm using Jaws is saying
block quote, and the person who helped me set mine up on my own computers
set it to not say this. I thought it might be in graphics or attributes but
not having luck getting rid of it. I hope someone can help.

Re: tech problems galore!

Blaster <blaster@...>

Hi,
Everything posted about cleaning the keyboard is accurate. I was mostly talking about a laptop keyboard. I had a friend that flattened some keys from pounding on them out of frustration. He thought he killed his laptop, but what he did was flatten those little rubber pimples that lay beneath the keys. The key consists of a square or rectangular ring, a little rubber pimple and the key which has a hinged wire clip. So essentially you can use something pointy, like a steak knife in my case, and you carefully pick at the bottom center of the key until it flips up. The little rubber pimple comes flying out, beware. Then you can remove the the key, then the bracket. There are some seller's on ebay that are very helpful in choosing the right key, there are many variences, and giving some links to step-by-step instructions. It's delicate work and the parts are very flimsy, so it's not for everyone.

HTH,
Blaster

believe I may have seen a list with a similar name on groups.io, but only
after I had already created this one. Although now I can't seem to find it

I created this one because I had a disagreement with the owner/moderator of

Well, if you have a wipe, you can clean it!  They have wipes that do not have alcohol in them and their made for cleaning electronics, the name exscapes me right now!  Also, get a can of conpressed air to get the dust off!  I use air to clean my laptop and keyboards!  IT is good to make sure your fans are dust free and if you are adventurous or know anyone who can, get a cleaning kit for a computer or small vacuum to clean the inside of your desktop!  I would not do this with the laptop, just use the air to get where the fans are to make sure the dust is cleared!

I think we all can hear the frustration in your post, so maybe here's a
few things that may help out a bit.

1. When you get a call center rep you can't understand, tell them you
can't understand them and you want another rep. I do it all the time
and it works. Sometimes they try to insist on helping. Just keep saying
I can't understan you please transfer me to another  rep. It works.

2. I'm not sure if you called the Microsoft accessibility support
number or not. I just used them last week and there was no problems.
Don't get me wrong, I still waited 25 minutes to get a rep, but that's
to be expected.
Here's the number: 1–800-936–5900

3. If your talking about laptop keys sticking, then you should know
they sell the little rubber bouncy things that are seated underneath
the keys on ebay and other sites. They sell replacement keys with the
mounting ring and the little rubber bouncy thing for about 4 bucks a piece.

Re: apple devices and iTunes with jaws

Matt

Hi, I would first update iTunes to the latest as there is some fixes in iTunes since your version. Now yes iTunes is a mess especially on windows. It is not an easy task. So since you have sync before I assume on the same computer with the same phone? You should be ok and don’t lose anything. But anytime you hook to iTunes and sync there is always that chance. So let me know and I will try to walk you thru it. Just understand I cannot be responsible for anything that happens if things don’t work out . As I myself know evevery time I hook to the computer and iTunes something could go wrong. Nothing is perfect.

Re: tech problems galore!

Walt Smith

Christina -

Two thoughts:

(1) Simply turn the keyboard upside down and smack the bottom (which should
now be the top) smartly a few times. This will get rid of stuff like crumbs,
lint, etc.

(2) You can purchase cans of pure compressed air at most office supply
stores, computer stores, etc., and these are excellent for cleaning around
the keys after performing the above step.

Don't use any liquids on the keyboard unless they're specifically and
clearly intended for keyboard cleaning. Frankly, keyboards have become so
relatively inexpensive in recent years (except for some of the fancy
ergonomic models) that a keyboard replacement every few years is probably an
excellent idea, too.

there
are
more and more persons on Blindtech who are cross posting all over
the place.
It is not unusual to see the same message no fewer than five or six
times
on
various lists. And I hope that those cross posts do not show up here.
This
prompts a question. Is there a utility which will somehow delete
cross posted messages? Setting up filters to do this would be a
huge undertaking.

Welcome to the list Cristsbal. Indeed it is active. We currently

LOL let's just say that I had a difference of opinion in the art of
list
management with the owner/moderators of BlindTech.

Wow, I don't' check the lists for a couple of days and apparently
everything goes poopoo.
So is this list actually active?
All sorts of drama on BlindTech.

It's definitely not you. I can't bring it up at all. I get a waiting message; then I'm told to refresh the page, and that still doesn't help.

List members, I can't access Bard, and I'm getting a different Error
code every single time I try to access the main page. I'm told to email
Michael Martys, and I do. But why? It should have been up, and I was
using the latest Firefox browser, Windows 10, etc. What is going on!
Also, I won't be shopping for books much longer, and my SD card on my
cell phone is dismounted and won't mount properly, so Best Buy is my
best bet. But yeah seriously, today has not been a clean tech day. I
can't get through but one measly day without technology error coding
itself, dismounting, breaking, or otherwise causing problems with access
to information. Phew!
Anyone seen Bard go down today at all? When will it be back up? If not
now, when?
Beth

Re: apple devices and iTunes with jaws

Matt

Well, which one do you want on the phone first. Which is the most important? Also have you ever sync with iTunes before? Are you using a PC or Mac or something else?

Re: .Opinions wanted: Should I install the upcoming updates?

Matt

Hmm, that thing should be getting great battery life much better than the
iphone6 and below. If not you must have something wrong in settings or you
have a lot of battery eating things in the app switcher. If not none of
these I would take it to Apple store to get it tested and fixed or replaced.
As the battery should be great on this thing! That is if you have an Apple
store around you. If not I would at least call them and tell them about it
and see where to go from here.

Hi
My iOS devices seem to be dying very rapidly, therefore, I was going
to install iOS 9, as soon as it was released, so I could get better
battery life.
I plan to read applevis.com before updating, just to see what others
say. I will base my decision, off the information I find on that website.

Hi, I like doing it thru iTunes as you don't lose speech. Also I
would wait about a week or so before I installed it. As in case it
has VO bugs that you just cannot live with. Let some of the real
techy people adopt it first and find out all the bad and good and
then
decide if it is ok to download. JMT!

Hi,
I'm wondering how I should install iOS 9 when it's released in 15 days?
Should I install it over the air, or via iTunes on my mac? Should I
restore my iPhone prior to installation or should I install it
overtop of
iOS 8.4..1?

Thanks for any tips you can provide, Jessica

Hi,
I would like opinions on whether or not to install the updates from
Apple,
when they are released in a few weeks?

Is the current beta stable
Thanks,
