No problem. Every now and then I'll run across a computer with the desktop icons hidden. Not sure how it happens as one has to go in and manually do it, but I set up a brand new Hp computer for a guy a while ago and the icons were hidden right out of the box. Not sure why anyone would ever choose that setting but as the setting exists there must be some value in it for someone.

I met you a long, long time ago at the seeing eye. It was back in 1985. My dog was xeric, the big German sheppard with the attitude.

How have you been?

Hey Chris,

That definitely did the trick. The icons were hidden. Thanks.

I wonder if your desktop icons have become hidden some how. Try this. Go to the desktop and unselect everything by holding the control key and pressing spacebar. Next, press the applications key. You should hear, view sub menu. Right arrow to expand the sub menu and arrow down. Make sure the show desktop icons is checked.

Hope this helps.

Hello guys,
If your PC or browser is in the high contrast mode, then your phone won't scan the QR Code for WhatsApp.  This is consistant for almost all the browsers. Turning off the high contrast mode should make the scanning work.

Do you have an Amazon Alexa?  If so, you can enable puzzle of the day.  There is a cross word puzzle every day.  There is five clues and you have to guess the word and then at the end, you can guess the theme.  All of the words have this in common.  Some of them are easy and others extremely hard.  Hope this helps.

Try control U to open the headers and then control W to close them again.  Control home should take you to the top of the headers.

Not sure if this will work but it is worth a try.

Hello,
Can anyone help me with the headers in Thunderbird?
I can back TAB to the normal header section in most mails and can access the information like “FROM” and “SUBJECT”. But, with the newsletters that I receive, it doesn’t work. Back TABBING leads to me going through several links present in the mail. I have also tried pressing Ctrl+End and going to the end of the mail, then TABBING from there to reach the header section. But, it doesn’t work. Again, this problem seems to be specific to the mails with large number of links. I have tried the above methods in both “NORMAL” and “ALL” header views. The problem persists regardless.
I wish to access the header section as right clicking on the “FROM” section gives you an option of filtering mails, namely “FILTER MAILS FROM”. If anyone could help, it would be great.

Also make sure the screen is maximized.  I know having the screen maximized with Jaws is important, with NVDA I'm not sure about since I run a program that maximizes my windows automatically.
Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Re: How to record an internet vidio stream

You can do it with wget. It's a bit geeky to set it up with all the required parameters in a batch file, and then you have to schedule when it starts and stops recording, but yes, it's quite doable.

I use the virtual desktops all the time and I've never created one that was blank. I think his desktop icons got hidden which is an easy fix. No restore necessary.

It sounds like maybe you might have accidentally created yourself a Virtual Desktop or more (which may be blank and seem like nothing) and this may be why you could not get to your Desktop? This is just a guess on my end though. There are keystrokes below that will show you how to go to these Virtual Desktops to see if this is the case, but if Windows+Control+D doesn't sound like anything you'd accidentally hit, then maybe this guess does not apply at all.

Another idea is System Restore.

Windows + Ctrl + [Left][Right]
Switch between virtual desktops

Windows + Ctrl + D
Create new virtual desktop

Windows + Ctrl + F4
Close current virtual desktop

Re: checking how much time is left in a file when playing in vlc media player

Bharat

whenever you want to do that, you may switch to the Touch cursor with
JAWS by pressing Insert+shift+Semicolon & explore the screen from left
to right with the arrow keys & it should tell you the elapsed time as
well as time remaining. Once done, you may press Insert+semicolon
twice & it should bring you back to the PC cursor.

Thank you,

Bharat.
