thunderbird selection addresses

I am switching from windows live mail to TB. I can't figure out how to select address for multiple bcc field entries. In wlm I just went down the list to select. I would think that this could be done in TB as well, just can't find where.

Thanks for any suggestions or solutions.--

Jaffa, Eloquence and Talkback do indeed SHAKE HANDS warmly. So, it can be
used on a ChromeBook and set for system-wide use. I got that info from a
reliable source on another list.

Now I should count up my pennies and consider grabbing a ChromeBook; I'm a
tad unclear about Chrome books in general. There are too many to choose
from. Anyhow, I'll keep reading and poaking around, I may just find one
that won't let me walk away without carting it along.

Changing the sounds.

1. Exit your email program.

2. Press the Windows key and type sounds, or you can go to your system tray (Insert+F11), and select what will be titled whatever your soundcard is with a percentage of what it's currently set at, press enter and either press S for sounds or arrow to it pressing enter.

3. On the Sound dialog box, on the Sounds tab, under Program Events, under Windows, click New Mail Notification.

4. Click Browse, and then select a different audio file.

Note:  Only .wav audio files are supported. Other audio file formats such as .mp3 or .aac can’t be used. Your favorite sound editing program might be able

to convert other audio file formats to a .wav file.

5. Click OK.

6. Restart your email program.

Samsung Galexy A10e

Abbie Taylor

I just received an email from Verizon, telling me I can upgrade to the Samsung A10e for free. I already have the Samsung Convoy 3, which I love. But I've had it for years. So, I suppose I should think about upgrading. A basic flip phone that is accessible, like a good man, is hard to find. I may just have to bite the bullet and get a smart phone.

Has anyone used the Samsung A10e? Does it have speech and buttons? What features are accessible?

Here's a link to the product page. It doesn't provide much of a description. So, I'd appreciate any input.

Yup! eloquence is a TTS engine.  So in order to drive that engine, there must be an interface between the OS and Eloquence, as an example.  For Microsoft Windows, it is currently Jaws and NVDA.  But I don't know if Talkback which relies on the Google TTS engine has been made to communicate with Eloquence.  If it has, then chances are good that it could be used on Chromebook, that is, If Chromebook itself is run on the Android OS..

I think I’ve read that android can be used on the newer chrome books. I guess it depends on when you obtained your chrome book and which one you got.

Re: playing midi files with vlc

Hello,

It ended up that VLC doesn't have the necessary codec to play MIDI files. Media player works. I never thought of doing the Select All. That worked perfectly.

I thank you for helping me make things work as I needed.

Try doing a select all while in whatever folder it is that you have your
various midi files that you are interested in playing similar to how you
would with other files.

Or try using the keystroke Control+F to play the folder of files.

If you've already tried these options with no success, sounds like VLC has
difficulties with midi files for whatever reasons.

Hello,

I hope my question is at least close enough to what this group covers and
that you can help me.

My aim is to open a folder of MIDI files and be able to have them played
without having to manually go from one to the next.

I use VLC to play other files and hoped it would work with MIDI. VLC
preferences show that it can be associated with MIDI files but they do not
play.

I was told that perhaps associating VLC with a .sf2 file would solv the
problem. Where can I find a .sf2 file which can be associated with VLC? Is
there another way for MIDI files to play sequentially?

In case it's important, I'm running Win 7.

I will gratefully receive any help you may have. I believe that some
discussions have referred to Sound Fonts.

Re: eloquence on chromebooks and orbit reader

George.  In theory it could, but it has to be ported to the Os's screen reader app in question, in this case, talkback.  I don't know if there is the source code for talkback floating around, but if there was, someone must study Talkback's source code to see how Eloquence can be ported to it.  Also, if Eloquence is now being used on Android phones, which I am not aware of, then the work is already done and it is just a matter of adapting it to the chromebook.  Cheers!

Re: maybe a virus?

Gerald,
it was a little scary because modifying the Thunderbird Config Editor is a little like editting the registry, and if you change the wrong setting, you could really screw things up.
Hmmm, sort of. It is like editing the Registry more in the sense that if you back up everything before doing changes, you're 99,9% safe doing whatever you need to :)
Now it's even easier, since if things don't work as expected, as long as you remember what you've changed it's just a matter of going there again and resetting the key.
It's an option for all default entries. This means that if this is an entry that you've created, in other words, that didn't exist before, well, there's no reset option since there's nothing to be resetted. As such, if you click Reset, it will, instead, delete the entry.

Again it is like editing the registry in the sense that as long as you really know where, why and what (not exactly on this order *smile*) you're doing, there's not any risk at all.

Cheers,

Yeah, but it was a little scary because modifying the Thunderbird Config Editor is a little like editting the registry, and if you change the wrong setting, you could really screw things up.  This double question mark issue is apparently unique to certain email providers  like AOL Mail, which I use,Yahoo Mail and others.  If anyone else encounters this problem, just holler, and I will be happy to provide instructions on how to fix it.

So I definitely don't know how to help you as I thought I might be able to :( it was exactly what I was going to suggest.

I don't know if it has any effect at all but have you ever tried restarting Thunderbird after changing the value from "false" to "true"?
Also, when you are writing a message, on Coding (or something like that), is it set to Unicode?
You can see it by pressing alt while you're writing then going to Options then Coding. At least that's how it displays here.

Lastly, on Options, is formating set to Select automatically?

I see you said that both incoming and outgoing messages are set to Unicode. Have you ever tried unchecking the box just next to where you set it up?

I'm just saying a few things that you may not have tried yet and maybe that's what you're missing. Good luck!

Agree totally with you Gene.  Strangely enough, the best PopUp blocker I've come across over the years is that built into Internet explorer, though It is generally a piece of crappy software which Microsoft allowed to be built into it's OS.  For me at least, it holds the record for the most number of crashes when it is actually being put to use.  Such a pity though because in terms of security, it was the best of the worst out there during that time frame.  c=Cheers!
