Re: keyboards with an Applications key
Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.
Chief Lenron, Yes, I hate using the Shift-F10 keystroke as the Applications
key. I still have sitting on my desk a Logitech keyboard that I grabbed eons back. It didn't come with an Applications key. What then attracted me to this keyboard? Selfishness without a doubt! It is a solar-powered keyboard meaning that it can be charged from any source of light. Now I don't have to worry about batteries! It also came with a mouse combo and a USB dongle. It doesn't even have a Windows key on the right side of the divide. Yikes, thinking I was being prudent, I wound up shortchanging myself big time. So, I took a trip to Microcenter, stumbled upon the MK270, stole three: One at home, two at my store, the second one is a backup keyboard just in case I can't find this make and model anymore on any shelf. Now I can put on a few rags and head out for the wine and beer party, should be fun. I'm sure you'd like the keyboard. One more thing: It does have eight media keys above the F1-F12 keys. It also has a recessed button to the far-right that serves as an on/off button. You'd need your fingernails for this methinks. I have left it turned on for eternity and I have never experienced any problems and, as I said, the two AAA batteries don't know when to quit, they just enjoy work. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

Re: stereo in-ear Bluetooth earbud recommendation
Vicky Vaughan
Hi Dave and List, I recently acquired a set of ear pods called Outlier by Creative. They have some of the features that Dave stated that he wanted.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
They are solely Blue tooth and have no wires or loops. They have a charging case into which they fit snugly and this in turn can be connected to your computer's Blue tooth port or in my case, into a port on my stereo receiver. The controls on the ear pods do different functions, so you would lose functionality by using only one. They cost about $80 American dollars and have a really good sound. There is a voice that will tell you when they turn on or off. They paired to my HD 10 seventh gen Fire tablet with no trouble In order to connect them to my Windows 10 desktop computer, it was necessary to get a Blue tooth adapter. With the Windows 10, I did not need to download anything from the web, as I would have had to do, if I had a Windows 7 computer. In order to get the ear pods to connect to the desktop I had to turn off the Blue tooth on my iPhone and tablet, so as not to interfere with the connection process. Once that was done however, I was able to turn Bluetooth back on for both of them, without disturbing that connection. I did need sighted assistance with the pairing, since it was very helpful to know when the lights were flashing the right pattern to be paired. The irritating fact about this is that when we lost electricity, I lost the pairing and had to go through all of it again. They come with 2 sizes of ear tips, so you can probably find one that fits you. If anyone wishes, I'd be glad to post the instructions for them. Good luck in finding just the right pair for you and please let us know what you choose and how they workout for you. Sincerely, Vicky V

Hello,

The problem I've got with Notepad specifically is that by default it saves files in ansi, when I want to save something I'm needing to save in UTF-8, so I select the UTF-8 option, the problem is notepad puts some strange special character (invisible) that mucks up my page validation process. This happens also when I select the Unicode option. If it wasn't for that i'd use it it's perfect otherwise, doesn't have the tracking or selection speak issues that notepad++ seems to have. Thanks. I have a USB keyboard that has an applications key but not an extra windows key on the right. I like this keyboard because it has six programmable keys on the left side of the keyboard but does not require two USB ports like many gamers keyboards. It also does not require drivers discs or applications like many gamers keyboards. It is the Corsair K55 and while not wireless and not having the extra Windows key I do not regret buying it.

You do not need a bunch of technical experience to switch out of windows 10 s mode. A quick google search brings up very simple easy to follow directions. Anyone can do it. And on amazon, for $350 or so, I found a laptop with an AMD a12 processor, 8gigs ram and a 256gb solid state drive, with windows 10 in s mode. Again, do a quick google search for
switch windows 10 out of s mode. and easy to use directions for switching it out of s mode should come up.
