I don't understand how to accept Clubhouse invitations.  I tried going to the next step after entering my phone number, but It seems I'm stuck. I also tried getting my username, but failed.  Do I need to try again or take a different way?  And once I get in successfuly, how do I accept?

Thanks,

 acce

Re: NVDA Growse and Focus Mode Sounds

Gene

You could put your own wave files in in place of what is there.  You can change to verbal notification.  In browse mode settings, tab until you get to a check box that says:
“Audio indication of focus and browse modes”.  Check it with the space bar and activate the ok button.

The fast way to open browse mode settings is with the command control nvda key b.

Hi All,

In NVDA when you switch between browse and focus modes and use the sounds, is it possible to chage these sounds to different sounds?  Or, can you have NVDA report verbally browse or focus mode?  Thanks much.

USB Dongle Keyboard

Mike B.

Hi All,

I've lost my notes for this, but what I'm looking for is a full size keyboard that works from a USB radio receiver dongle.  Preferrably with both Alt, Windows & Control keys and an applications key on the bottom row.  I believe a couple of Logitech keyboards have been discussed, but I don't recall their model numbers.  I would be using this keyboard with Windows desktop computers.

If anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate them all.  Thanks much.

Hello everyone,

Blind Tech Guys now has a club on ClubHouse and we invite you all to join our ever-growing community.

You will find the podcast here, where we discuss Android, iOS, and any other technology product or service from a blindness perspective.

The Blind Tech Guys are two blind podcasters who make it their mission to bring you this content. Blind Tech Guys is published weekly, with occasional bonus midweek episodes.

We are aware that it can be difficult to find technology resources from a blindness perspective. While there are other podcasts out there, we believe that the landscape is fragmented, and our strengths lie in providing you with tech content and commentary that is useful and easy to understand. We know you can go elsewhere for your content consumption, but we are positive that you will find what you are looking for by being a part of our community.

I was able to install an SSD in my computer by myself

Hi,
After a failed attempt a few months ago installing an SSD in my computer due to software not accessible. I ordered a SK hynix Gold S31 SATA Gen3 2.5 inch Internal SSD | SSD 500GB, from Amazon for $56.98, the software was accessible and I was able to clone my drive and replace it. It made a big difference in start up and and how fast everything loads.

Hello, does anyone know where I can find a file for NVDA commands. I am working with a person and they find the guide overwhelming that comes in the NVDA user guide. I wish they would just have all the commands separated.  I know why they did the guide like they did by listing all the commands touch, laptop and desktop. But, this person just wants the commands for a desktop and not all the other info. They are very overwhelmed with to much info and they do not know how to skip the info they do not need.

I do not want them to be discouraged and I want them to use their computer. If anyone knows where I can find  an NVDA command file list, please let me know. Thank you, Heather

The 6-dot labeler is an electro mechanical device used to to emboss labels.

I guess it is called a six dot labeler to distinguish it from an  labeler that uses 8 dot braille.

Re: [Tec Talk] can anyone help me find my trash folder think I have lost it.

Gene

I’m not sure what happened to the folder.  If you are in the folders’ list and have up arrowed and down arrowed through all the folders and don’t find it, I’m not sure what happened.

But the simplest things should be tried first.  Did you close and open the program again?  If that didn’t work, did you reboot?

Oh it's ok, most likely is the the short cut has disappeared.  Depending on which operating system you have, you can go to settings and look for the folder.  Also under this computer you'll find it there.  You should be able to press the application key "second one from the right on the space bar row.  If you arrow up you should find create short cut.  It will tell you that you can't make one there but you can place a short cut on the desk top.  Also you may be able to ask Cortona to open up recycle ben on this computer.
Hang in there, computers can be challenging especially when using a screen reader.

You will need to send at least $104/$204; why? For Goods & Services, Paypal
charges a 2.9% discount rate, plus another $0.30 transaction fees. These
are DIRECT COST OF RENDERED SERVICES on the part of Paypal to the seller of
a given item. This of course assumes that sales tax is NOT INVOLVED. Under
the new dispensation, as handed down by the Supreme Court in a case that
came out of South Dakota, states CAN NOW COLLECT sales tax across border
lines. You may know that some cities also tack on their own share of sales
tax as an addition to whatever the state collects. In that kind of a
situation, the calculation goes out of whack pretty quickly. Even when you
send the assumed required payment and Paypal charges are deducted, the
recipient will get a few extra pennies over what you are desiring to pay.
So, it's hard to be exact should you use Paypal's Goods & Services.

Are there alternatives? Sure. Two common ones are the CashApp and Zelle.
Neither of these PROCESS REFUNDS, so be sure you're sending the funds to a
trusted individual. In that wise, no need to do a WILD GOOSE CHASE on the
correct formula to use for calculating how much is too much, just send the
exact amount and you'll be in good hands.

Hope the foregoing is somewhat helpful; I'll go back into my hurdle sack and
