Yes, after installing Seven Zip, there was no Menu choice for Seven Zip in the Shift F-10 Menu, or any other Menu.

Odd, but there ya go.

As for the gentleman who started this Topic, I have no idea what they have attempted, or what their results were.

Re: unzipping files with windows 10

Smiling?

Even if you highlighted the file and then used your Context Menu/Applications key (Shift+F10) option 7zip is still unavailable?

Hello,

I had the same problem. Although, I notice my UnZip Utility went away
after installing a copy of the VLC Media Player on the System. And from
that time forward, I no longer had a choice to Extract on any Menu.

And when I used Open With, I too ended up where you ended up.

I even attempted to install Seven Zip, and even though it installed, I
still had no Menu choices for Seven Zip showing up in any Menus.

Very weird.

I even uninstalled the VLC Media Player, but doing that did not bring
back my ability to UnZip files.

And on this particular System, I still can not UnZip any files. Lucky
for me, I have a Second System that still gives me access to the UnZip
Utility built into Win 10.

And I have not installed the VLC Media Player on this System.

Not sure if I had a conflict on the older Computer, or if I would
experience the same issue if VLC Media Player was installed on this
Newer one. But, for now, I am leaving well enough alone.

As far as losing the ability to UnZip a file due to a Win 10 Update,
Can't remember getting any Updates for Windows around the same time as
installing VLC Media Player.

J2019.1909.28 Update + What's New In This Build

Mike B.

Hi All,

Below is the download link and what's new in this J2019.1909.28 build.

32 & 64 bit:

What's new:

Enhancements in JAWS 2019.1909.28 (September 2019)

The following is a list of improvements made in JAWS 2019 between the August 2019 update and the September 2019 update.

list of 9 items
• For single-user perpetual licenses, JAWS, Fusion, and ZoomText 2019 now check to see if an update to your license is available when the software first
starts. For instance, you recently purchased or renewed a Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA). You will then have the option to update the license on
your local computer. This allows you to install major releases in the future you are licensed to run without having to go through the authorization process
after the install.
• While browsing the internet, JAWS will no longer announce "Clickable" by default as you move to various content.
• You should no longer hear the message "Press JAWS Key+ALT+R to hear descriptive text" as you navigate form controls and certain other elements on the
web.
• Resolved a reported issue where JAWS and Word would become unresponsive when attempting to edit a long comment.
• By default in Word and Outlook, JAWS will no longer announce "Alt SHIFT F10 to adjust Auto Correction" when you move to something that was auto corrected
previously.
• The AutoCorrect Detection option, previously only available in the Quick Settings for Word, can now also be changed in the Quick Settings for Outlook
(INSERT+V).
• JAWS and Fusion will no longer gather and announce the count of all the objects, misspellings, grammatical errors, and so on when a document is opened
in Word. This will enable documents to load much faster, including very large documents containing a lot of these items. You can always press INSERT+F1
for an overview of what the document contains.
• If the Table Display option located under the Braille group in Quick Settings is set to Current Row or Current Column, addressed a reported issue where
the current row or column was not being shown on the braille display as expected while navigating tables in Java applications.
• Resolved translation issues with the Hungarian Liblouis braille table.

what's best to do about " missing shortcut dialogue"

aisha <2001.aisha123@...>

yesterday I experienced a strange problem:

I went to open a web brouzer (google crome), and I got the message that the shortcuct to the programme was missingg

after I went in to the programmes folder and still couldn't access it, I did a system restore (which braught the programme back)

today the same thing happened. it was working fine all morning, and in the afternoon the shortcut went walkabouts again

this time: in sted of restoring it, I used the  instilation file I have all ready on my desktop.

but I'm just wondering why this happened. could it have perhaps had something to do with a system update and I'll be fine now?

NVDA not working at start up

Patrick Ford

Hi,

I have the box checked for NVDA  to begin at log-in, but it does not. Next to this choice, there are the words needs administrator  privildges.

It used to work just fine on this laptop using windows 10. Now it no longer begins at start up.

Is there something I am not doing to have it begin again at log in?

Thanks.

Patrick

unzipping files with windows 10

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

I'm trying to unzip an audio book with windows 10 and I'm having trouble.

I'm highlighting the file to be unzipped then hitting my context menu key and arrowing down to open with which is a submenu so I open that with the right arrow and arrow down to winRar, but when I hit enter there I just get placed inside of the zipped file where the folders are shown but no unzipping is done. What am I missing? I've unzipped files in windows 10 before without a problem, and I'm sure I followed the same procedure before but I never had the open with submenu, once I hit the context key I just arrowed down to unzip here and when I hit enter there the file unzipped.

Thanks.

Troy

Hi Dave,

Okay, I just graduated from Bonehead School!  LOL  What happened was I had been playing around with a program called, Old New Explorer, and in this program I had the libraries turned off.  Went in, turned libraries on and This PC is now showing the way it should.  Thanks for the kick that triggered the Old New Explorer reminder.

To find the list, try pressing the Tab Key about 5 times, till you come
to a Tree, which should be the list of folders you were looking for.

Re: Audio description and Uverse..?

Rick Alfaro

Hi. Do yourself a favor and switch back to Comcast. I had Uverse for a couple of months and hated it. You can get audio description but you have to go through the info button on your remote then arrow over to languages and choose Spanish from the list of languages. Talking to AT&T about anything having to do with accessibility is useless. Nobody you talk to has any clue regarding accessibility. The best I got out of them was possibly getting free directory assistance. I went back to Concast which I had for over 15 hears. Their commitment to accessibility is real and so much better in terms of implementation compared to any other of the providers.

Re: Audio description on cable tv through RCN?

Steve Matzura

SAP=Secondary Audio Program, a holdover feature from when stereo audio first came onto the scene in the eighties and was added to the then-new portion of the over-the-air TV signal. I can't believe cable systems are still employing this archaic term for what is clearly not the same thing any more. And to deliver audio description via this mechanism is in my unhumble opinion stupid. The set-top box splits the audio, putting the main channel audio on one stereo side, and the descriptive audio on the other. Is that not the most ridiculous thing you ever heard? You lose the whole experience of the full stereo audio track everybody else gets who's not using audio description, and you're in trouble if you have a hearing deficiency which prevents you from hearing properly on one side.

There are a few instances where I've heard DVS implemented properly, mapped directly over the stereo audio track and presented in both left and right channels at equal levels and equalization, but it's rare.

Good Morning All,

Running Win10 Pro & latest 1903 ... .356 with latest Jaws.  I don't know what setting I changed, but I'm not showing the list of folders in This Pc, only the OS, optical and data drives.  Would someone please tell me what setting I need to change and where it is so I can get the folder list back?  All help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

Hi Group:

My mom has an I phone 5 C and she has had it for five years and she hasn't had updates since IOS 9 came out. Her phone works fine. Of course, she doesn't use it much. She just uses it for texting and phone calls. The phone works fine but just doesn't have the updates. I have an SE that will be 3 years old and I'm hoping to get another year out of it. I think Apple wants to scare people so they run out and buy a new phone. Apple also makes our older phones slower to persuade us to buy new ones. I know what's really going on and I don't fall for it. Hope this helps.

That aside, it should still work perfectly fine even after Apple stops providing iOS updates for it. No different than Win 7 for example where its lifecycle came to an end, but that didn't mean that suddenly the OS was no longer functional.
I have an SE as my second business cell and I plan on using that bad boy until the wheels fall off.
Most likely, you may find that certain apps once iOS 14 come out may start giving you problems or run slower or simply not have all the features available than newer versions, but as far as the phone not working? Not true.

I was told that my iPhone 6S will not be able to receive any updates after the 13.1 update that is scheduled for this month. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, pardon my ignorance but will the phone still be useable once they stop supporting it? I literally bought it new from Consumer Cellular less than two weeks ago and was hoping it would last me a couple years. I don't use the phone often, mainly for text messages and the occasional voice call. Thanks for any info in advance!

And my mistake from earlier, it's the 6 S which is the oldest phone that will run IOS 13, not the 7, sorry about that.
