My power button is on top. So far, the only way I know to
remove Mute is:

Settings
General
Accessibilities
VoiceOver
Audio

There's a mute switch on the side of the iPhone opposite the
power button. Flick the switch and it should say "unmuted".

Annoying Word issue with inserting horizontal lines

ann

Hi,

I'm having trouble inserting a horizontal line in a Word document. Using latest Office365, latest Windows10, and latest version of Jaws.

If I go through the Ribbons and use these keyboard shortcuts, Alt+HBZ, the horizontal line inserts with no problems. But, if I use the Quick Access shortcut I set up to do the exact same thing, a search pictures dialog box pops up and says this:

We can't connect to some of your picture sources right now. Please try again later. If this problem continues, you can try signing out of Office and signing back in

Well, I have signed out and then back in again. It did not fix the problem.

It also gives me a search files option and a search Bing option.

What the heck is this, and more importantly, how do I get rid of it? Why is it activated only by my Quick Access Toolbar Horizontal Line shortcut, but not by going through the ribbons?

Thanks for any advice. This is very annoying.

brltty with orbit reader

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

I installed BRLTTY on android because I heard it has better accessibility than brailleback, and they are right. It does. BRLTTY autodetected the orbit reader. And it supports Japanese.

I hav some issues.

1. I cannot change the braille table to UEB grade2. When I select it, nothing changes.

2. for BRLTTY?

I try typing and it says wrong3. d selected. I went into languages and input, changed it to brltty keyboard and still when I try typing my phone berd and still when I try typing my phone beeps and I get an wrong input error on the display.

Can you please document how to use BRLTTY for android?

I also tried using BRLTTY with NVDA in windows 10 32bit. I chose autodetect, USB-bluetooth and hit OK. It also askd if I want to install some sort of drivers and I just said yes. I then chose BRLTTY under NVDA braille display and I get no braille output. BRLTTY will let me read Japanese braille if it is in the katakana alphabet. How do I fix this so I can get braille output from NVDA with brltty on orbit reader and also choose the right NVDA braille table from within NVDA itself and then how do I tell brltty to use its own table, like Japanese or ueb grade2?

Neato robotic vacs

Marie <magpie.mn@...>

I bought one of the first neato vacs to use wifi and an IPhone app. It did a good job of cleaning but most everything else was such a  hassle, it is now packed up in the original box awaiting a new home. First of all, it took me and three sighted people trying before finally getting it connected to wifi. In the beginning the app was pretty accessible but with the very first update, it became extremely difficult to use and some of the function, I could never get accomplished. Then they put out a firmware update which was supposed to improve wifi connections, which it had problems staying connected. After several calls to Neato tech support I could never get the update to install on the vac and neither could two sighted people.
I got so frustrated, I did not use it for about a month and when I did, It was not connected and I could not get it to connect.
I am pretty good at such devices but this one got the best of me. LOL!
Now fool that I am, I am considering trying one of their newer vacs and wonder if anyone on the list owns one and how they deal with it. I love the idea of the robotic since I live alone and it actually did a better job than I can do when I could get it to work for me.
So, could I get some input on this and other brands of the vacs.
Thanks in Advance,
Marie

bluetooth tethering for internet?

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

Also, I plan on Bluetooth connecting my iPod touch and android phone together so when out and about, if I wish, I can make the iPod borrow the android phone’s 5gigs of data or so that I have on it. Will this suck up twice as much data though? And will it at least be fast enough for some web surfing and checking of email if I want to use the touch for that, rather than the android phone?

iPod touch and braille screen input?

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

Will I be able to use the braille screen input feature on the 4.7-inch iPod touch screen? Or is it better to have an iPad in order to use braille screen input? If for some reason I cannot use braille screen input, I can at least Bluetooth connect my braille display, orbit reader20, and use its keyboard for braille input.

bad elf gps for lightning connector

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

Ok so since I decided on an iPod touch next I had to tackle, how do I get gps on my iPod touch? And I found the solution on amazon. It is the bad elf gps for lightning connector. This will add gps to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. So has anyone used this? If so, how do you like it?

Re: switching to iPhone or I-O-S-devices

Josh Kennedy

I found out I can bluetooth tether I-O-S devices to android and use a bluetooth hotspot. So therefore because I like both platforms because each has their advantages, I think I'll save money and get an iPod touch with 128gb of storage. And when I need data I'll bluetooth the iPod touch to the android phone and have the iPod touch borrow its data. I'll get the iPod touch 7th generation with the a10 fusion chip. But I do have a question, yes another one. If in the future I get an iPad, does the iPad's 8mp camera have a flash? Apple says you can scan documents with iPad so I am hoping it has a flash. I know the iPod touch camera has a flash. My android phone camera also has a flash. And with the iPod touch and my android phone in my pocket I can get rid of a good number of apps on the android, and use more apps exclusively on the touch and give the phone a break. And if I want good braille access I can bluetooth the orbit reader to the touch and even use braille screen input if I wish.

Re: recommendations earpiece.

David Mehler

Hello,

It's a single earpiece, it does not cut off your hearing even when in.
It looks like a big earbud, the clip thing is detachable so that you
can flip it and put the earbud in whichever ear you prefer. It comes
with different sizes of ends to fit different ear sizes. It's got
power on/off, volume up/down, and pair/answer. It will tell you when
it's in pairing and when it's battery is low. According to jabra sales
(they're support is good too), it can pair with up to three different
devices, though i've never tried this so can't comment on audio from
multiple sources such as listening to music pumped in from a phone and
screen reader output from a tablet.

Re: problem with accessible podcatcher

Vicki,
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Probably a corrupted file. Have any of you edited the file manually for some reason?
This file, as far as I know, cannot be touched at all. You just need to use it exactly as it is.
