hi, I disagree. Security updates should be manditory. However, feature and driver updates definitely shouldn't. A buggy driver could cause unstable computer operation.

hi, you could've disabled the hardware enhancements from the sound options in control panel.. Also, microsoft offers a troubleshooter to hide buggy driver updates.
