Hi all,
Does anybody know how to give titles to notes I record on my Victor reader stream? I think I read that this can be done but I'm not sure how.
Thanks.

Yes, You can connect the stream to your computer and access the notes folder that way or put the sd card from the stream into your computer.
Then, select the file you want, press f2, and type the name you want. Press enter, done.

I believe you need to use the humanware companion to do that.

Hi Chris,
No Humanware Companiln required. I just use the standard windows keystrokes to select drives, folders, and files. Then I use the f2 key to rename the selected file.

I just tried putting my sd card in the correct slot on my computer and changing the names of my audio notes that way but when I put the card back in my Victor it told me there were no notes at all although they're still there.
Unless somebody can tell me what I might've done wrong, if I have to use the Humanware companion I'm going to need some instructions because I've never used it.

When I had the card plugged into the card slot on my laptop the mp3 extention was showing, and all I changed was the 00000000001 part and left the .mp3 intact. When I plugged the card back into the Victor and went to the notes section it reported 0 notes. There should've been 2.

I once tried naming my notes on the Stream and when I put the card back, I too found there were no notes in that folder but they had been moved to either the music folder or the podcast folder. Not sure why this happened but since they are mp3 files I suppose the Stream thought they belonged elsewhere. LOL!

Hi Chris,
Yes the files are still there with both the new names I gave them and the mp3 extension when the card is in the card slot on my computer, it's just that the Victor doesn't see them.

Hi Chris,
No Humanware Companiln required. I just use the standard windows keystrokes to select drives, folders, and files. Then I use the f2 key to rename the selected file.

Thanks.

I just looked in the podcast spot as well as in the other books spot where mp3 files might be placed by the Victor and they aren't in any of those spots. As I said in my most recent note the files are in the notes spot with the new names I gave them and the mp3 extension, and the computer sees them there but the Victor doesn't.
I may have to call Humanware and see what they suggest doing.

Unless somebody can tell me what I might've done wrong, if I have to use the Humanware companion I'm going to need some instructions because I've never used it.

Hi, you can't rename files in the $VRNOtes folder and expect them
to be found by your Stream. The Stream associates Note1, note 2,
etc. with the file names, and from memory, there is a .DAT file in
the $VRNotes folder that also holds this information.
So rename them only when you intend to export them from the
device.
If you move the files to $VROtherBooks, now that you have renamed
them, you will be able to play them once again.

When I had the card plugged into the card slot on my laptop the mp3 extention was showing, and all I changed was the 00000000001 part and left the .mp3 intact. When I plugged the card back into the Victor and went to the notes section it reported 0 notes. There should've been 2.

I think the victor doesn't know how to speak file names; just numbers: note 1, note 2, note 3, ECT.
