In this case, Google is your friend. I just conducted this particular search two days ago. Go to Google and type in: "computers for the Blind" Texas If you put in Texas, you can skip all the AFB links that come up first. Please note that "Computers for the Blind" is in quotes, telling Google to look for this as a "string", all one term. Net searching really isn't that hard. They may have improved, upped their game so to speak, and if so, then that can't be anything but good for all concerned. There was another outfit years ago in Rhode Island that got themselves a terrible rep for shoddy workmanship and virtually no end-user support. I think they're gone now.

Gene, I don't think you could find an iPad for less than a computer for the blind, but you could an Amazon Kindle, or for maybe the same price. Also, the RCA Pro is an Android tablet. I just simply, literally despised the keyboard that came with the one I had though. I thought it was clumsy and sluggish. I never gain proficiency on it, like I have, on all thingds, the screen one on my iPhone. It could be that I have worked harder on the iPhone, and had more information about how to use it than I did the one on that tablet. Nevertheless, the RCA Pro is a good buy, if they still have them.

Because of my tablet experience, I had no intention of getting a keyboard for my iPhone, and another reason for that was to have to have some kind of peripheral with it. On the tablet, the keyboard was attached, but it could be removed, and you could use just the touch screen, which was a big one, probably almost the size of one of a desk top. -----Original Message-----

I have used a fire tablet, which is very reasonable
in price. I have an IPad and a laptop and desktop computer both running Win10. I
personally don't care much for the tablets except for listening to books and
music etc. I find them difficult to hold comfortably with arthritic hands.
IPhone is much easier to use than the larger tablets. I use my older desktop

Gene, I don't think you could find an iPad for less than a computer for the blind, but you could an Amazon Kindle, or for maybe the same price. Also, the RCA Pro is an Android tablet. I just simply, literally despised the keyboard that came with the one I had though. I thought it was clumsy and sluggish. I never gain proficiency on it, like I have, on all thingds, the screen one on my iPhone. It could be that I have worked harder on the iPhone, and had more information about how to use it than I did the one on that tablet. Nevertheless, the RCA Pro is a good buy, if they still have them. |
