Hi,
I just orderd and got a Ring doorbell, and hoping to get it installed
in the next few days.

I was also considering:

Google Nest Hello:
Don't like the idea migrating all to the Google Home app, and I've had
some glitches trying to save clips from a Google Nest Hub Max but it
might be because I'm in a beta.

Apple Home Kit Doorbell:
There are also home kit door bells from Belkin Wemo and Logitek.
However, you can only view the footage and clips from Apple devices.

I am hoping with the Ring since it has a web view say for instance I
could call Aira and have them view the historical clips with me.

I'm really excited to start playing around with the ring!

Best,
Mika

We have had a ring for just under 2 years already without much trouble. It might be a bit tricky at first configuring the field of view you want the camera to monitor, possibly somebody can help you with that initial setup. After that it is accessible using the ring APP and you can do all of those things you want with it.

Even if you have power from the house it still requires you to have a battery installed. Careful with that set screw as it is quite tiny.

Is there a monthly charge? Or is that only if used with a security system?

Hi Loy,

We pay annually for our Ring Protect plan but, I don't recall how much it is.  Here's their customer service phone number and they can answer any questions you have, hopefully.

Hi,
Your going to have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription in order to
use many of the desireable features.

It will technically work with no subscription, but many of the
features you may want are only available if you have a subscription.
For instace, being able to browse certain past date clips, or using
the A Lady greeting feature.

There are some other video door bells that may not require a
subscription as well but the price for the subscription is normal.

Also if you go on to Youtube and search for
Ring doorbell
Nest Hello doorbell
Wemo doorbell
you will find tons of in depth reviews that are excellent to watch
except they don't of course cover the accessibility or lack there of
in terms of the apps.

Also many providers including Ring and Nest/Google will give you a 30
day trial of the subscription when you first connect the device to the
cloud.

Best,
Mika

It was 39.99 for the year after the increase. Our first year was 10 dollars cheaper.
