no they are not the same on the outside. The classic 2 just has up and down and the classic 1 has up down left and right. also the buttons on the classic 2 are bigger. the classic also has a button on the right for favorite apps and dictation. here is a youtube playlist showing how to do different things on the classic 2. i hope it helps! If you decide to get one of these phones, I hope you have better luck with it than I did. There are so many major problems with this phone that I have given up on it and am now in the process of moving all my data back to my iPhone.

Did you get a Blind Shell 2 or 1? I haven't heard much about either but the little I've heard indicates that the Blind Shell 2 is much better than the Blind Shell 1.

No, I do not see my self getting a blindshell 2 phone anytime soon. With a price of almost $600 Canadian dollars, it's just too rich for my beer budget.

However, I like to be informed about what's out there.I still like the idea of a smartphone with buttons! -----Original Message-----

Oh of course it is. I got the blindshell 1 and when I bought it I was told it would work on my carrier but then it didn't. It didn't have the variety of apps and the ability to add apps and all that. The blindshell 2 has some neat features and if you're not into having all kinds of apps but want the ones it has and might eventually have and want the pushbutton functionality and all that I can see where it would meet some people's needs. I think there are some people who might want to just do talk and text for whom it would be overkill and there are some people who would want more things and would then opt for using a touchscreen phone like an iPhone or android but maybe with a keyboard either a bluetooth qwerty or a hable 1 or orbit writer if they wanted a braille keyboard. I think there are people who probably bought a blindshell 2 and could have used a cheaper off the shelf feature phone to do what they want if they didn't want all the apps and I think that a lot of people don't have all the information they need to make a good informed decision on whether they can or can't effectively use a smartphone and all the options they hae for that or whether a feature phone would be enough. It is a hard decision because even when you have a lot of information it could be very overwhelming and personally I like to have something in my hands and try it and work with it before I commit to buying it but that is sometimes difficult.

Again, I hate to keep
beating a dead horse, but what happens if your Blindshell
Classic 2 craps out or otherwise stops working? How are you
going to get it fixed? Even though Blindshell now has US-based
customer support, how good is it? If you still have to send the
phone to some schlocko company overseas for repair, you may
never see it again. And once it is out of warranty, good luck
getting it fixed at all. For a phone that costs $600, this to
me, is unacceptable. Another list member who is very
knowledgeable and tech savvy reported that he experienced so
many problems with his Blindshell Classic 2, that he went back
to using an IPhone. Caveat emptor. Gerald

I too follow developments in the phone market with interest whether I purchase the phones or not. I was interested in the real sam pocket and what they were doing with it although I consider the price very prohibitive even more so than the blindshell classic. The cheapest I have seen the blindshell classic for in the US is $489 and for a phone with only about 50 apps the last time I checked I think that price is quite high. It's really too bad too because I prefer the idea of using buttons to trying to wrestle with touch screens and having to deal with external keyboards although I hear some people are using external keyboards with pushbutton phones too.

I am hoping that if the blindshell stands the test of time that maybe there will be some pway for people in ddifferent countries like the US and Canada to be able to become trained and certified and able to repair the devices. I don't know how realistic or doable that will be. Marda On 10/30/2022 3:05 PM, Gerald Levy via

I also have a question about the BS2. I had an original BSC and
it seemed to me that the screen on that phone was a bit large
compared to the numpad.
What is the size of the screen on the BS2? I just looked at my BS1 and the total size is right at 5 inches long with the screen taking up 3" and the numpad 2". It just felt to me that the actual visible screen could be a good bit smaller to make the phone feel more balanced.
Comments please.
Thanks,
nancy

HI. I would love to hear what issues you are having with it. We have a client who is interested in purchasing one. I've just started playing with it. So far I've tried the email app and find it glitchy. I've used google lookout to read text and so far it's worked pretty well. I haven't yet inserted a sym card so haven't tried texting or calling. What problems are you having with it?

When I get rich, i.e. have no more mortgage, which is only a couple years away, I may by a blindshell xx. Currently, or when you put a sim card in the bs2, you may check out the dictation of text messages. I would like to know how well this feature works. ThanksMont -----Original Message-----

HI. I am going to put a ssim card in the blind shell this week and play with it. I'll let you know. I've used dictation to send email messages and although I haven't played with it much, there seems to be issues with it reading back the dictated text.

The blind shell doesn’t cost $600. Some iPhones do, though, from what I remember. Pam.

The blindshell typically costs $489 US but that may translate to around $600 Canadian. The cheapest iPhone I've seen is around $425 and it's the SE model. I saw an SE2020 priced at $$389 earlier in the year before the 2022 came out. Marda On 10/31/2022 6:57 PM, Pamela Dominguez
