Hi Troy!
If you like, I could zip up the manuals I have in electronic form and email them to you. Let me know.

I know this is a longshot but does anybody know the switch settings on the back of the VIP3000? I have just a central AC and heating unit, and it works well on AC but when I put it on heat it stays on way too long. In fact if I set the thermostat on 76 degrees and the heat comes on, it won't go off until the thermostat says it's something like 82. I don't think it gets that warm, but I do know that it seems to stay on too long.

I had the company who originally installed the unit in the house come install the thermostat, but I don't think the person who did it knew what he was doing and nobody knew about the switches on the back. I don't have the manual anymore either so even if I could get somebody to come set the thermostat correctly for me I wouldn't know how to tell them to set the switches. At least I assume that's the problem since nobody knew that there were even any switches to be set when the thermostat was first installed.

Yes that is very sad.  But I think blind mice megamall still has them. other blindness agencies used to carry them but I haven't checked them lately and also haven't checked other sources like amazon.  I think it is sad that the price for them is so much higher than the price for smart thermostats that people use with smart phones and other smart devices.  I have had my VIP one for many years and love it and hope if/when it needs to be replaced I will still be able to find them.

If that's true, that's very sad. I have had mine for almost seven years and it works great! I have to admit that I don't use the programmable function, I just use it as a basic thermostat because I am at home all the time.

I believe that the guy who owned the TalkingThermostats.com site went out of business, if that's it he was in Minnesota and he was the one I bought my thermostat from a few years ago.

also, I did a Google search for the Talking Thermostat address and it showed the address but said no information is available for the page and there is no cached version, which means that Google can't access the site to make a cached copy.  In other words, there appears to be a problem with the site, though the address evidently is correct.

Hi Group,

I have seen this discussed before, but I forgot.  Just what is the best place to buy the VIP-3000 talking Thermostat?

Thanks for any information.
