BlindShell Classic not working on TMobile
sr91black
Hello: I have the BlindShell Classic phone and it does not seem to want to work on TMobile. I was able to use on AT&T before. Does this mean that I have to upgrade to the new BlindShell Classic II? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I think that the Classic is set up for GSM, not CDMA, which I think T-Mobile uses.

As I recall, the Shell Classic works on AT&T and TMobile. But I
believe that originally, it didn't support 4g and some large
carriers have stopped or will stop support for 3G this year. The
phone may be able to be updated or upgraded, but the original phone,
depending on when it was purchased, may not be able to be used as it
is.

This needs further discussion and I'm not making definite statements about the phone not supporting 4G but I seem to remember seeing that commented on on a list like this at some point. Gene

I don't know if this video will address the problem. Evidently, my
memory is incorrect and the original Blind Shell does work on 4G
networks.

Hi, The original Blindshell Classic phone was a GSM phone and designed to work on the AT&T towers. It was supposed to be a 4G phone but was later found to be missing some 4G components such as VO LTE. AT&T and its MVNO's texted folks using the AT&T towers and let them know that it would not be supported past February of this year. T-Mobile is also a GSM provider, someone in this thread said they were CDMA but that was not correct. The reason your mileage may vary when attempting to use the original Blindshell Classic on the T-Mobile towers has to do with the frequencies the phone uses. Some users tried this and weren't able to make/receive calls and texts, experienced dropped calls, and had their calls not ring and instead go straight to voicemail, etc. Others got nowhere at all. The Blindshell Classic 2 phone is a big improvement over the original, appears to have full 4G capability and was designed to work on the T-Mobile towers instead of AT&T. Again, this has to do with the frequencies the phone uses so I would not recommend using it on the AT&T towers. I personally don't know of anyone still using the original Blindshell Classic phone as a phone. Some may be using it as a multimedia player. If anyone wants one to use as a multimedia player, I do happen to have a few on the shelf and extra batteries for them which i'm willing to sell for less than they originally cost. Stay well, laz
