Hi all,
If any of you have the Bose bluetooth sunglasses what's the difference in the different types, tenor, soprano, sports etc? They're half off now and I'm thinking about getting a pair but I don't know the difference in the types.
Thanks.

There are definite differences. The Alto model only has 3.5 hours of playing time where some of the other models have 5.5 hours with the exception of the Tempo model which has 8 hours. In addition, they all have different shapes and sizes of lenses. You really need to have someone sighted take a look and explain the shapes to you to see what suites you. I personally own the Tempo version which is more of a sports style wrap around style. I chose these because of the longer battery life which makes a big difference in my case because I wear them literally all day usually. I paid $250 for mine so this particular model at half price is a great deal.

Are they half price no matter where you buy them, or do you have to buy direct from Bose?

I think you will really enjoy them and they are a steal at that price. I've purchased and returned a bunch of audio glasses and always wound up going back to the Bose Tempos because they have the best sound and longest battery life.

I'm sure I will, I'm not new to the Bose Frames, I had a pair of their first generation Alto frames, back when they were experimenting with augmented reality. I ended up selling them because their battery life was so short that they weren't all that useful even though I really liked the concept of having my earphones in my sun glasses.

I'll call Bose tomorrow then and ask them to describe the differences, thanks. I'm going to want a pair with good battery life, 3.5 hours probably isn't enough but 5.5 hours probably is.
I'm not willing to pay full price but I have a few friends who have them and pretty much rave about them, and just based on what they say it sounds like this sale price will be a real steal.

Troy, go out and test before you buy!! Bestbuy is your friend, or any other major computer store in your locale!
I can tell you that, in a noisy environment, the Bose bluetooth toys MAY BE INADEQUATE. If you turn them rather loud, and someone's standing close by, such a one, if able to make sense of synthetic speech, can pretty much hear almost all that transpires.
Beyond the above, they are pretty cool and I agree with Chief Rick that the Tempo editions are much better in terms of battery life, et al assuming that's of importance to you! And, if you schlepp around a smart toy phone, be sure to install the app for better customization; the toy will work just fine without its app installed, just pare it, then put it through your desired paces.
Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

Question number one range of the glasses since I use a pair of them I live in a split level house. I can walk anywhere upstairs with my phone sitting on the counter downstairs and be connected. I can sit upstairs and be connected. I can walk out 60 feet out my front door to my mailbox out of the street we connected but if I cross the street I get disconnected so I hope that helps for you question two is no you cannot use it with a non-Bluetooth device

I think that the range is the typical 10 meters or 30 feet for most bluetooth devices. Back when I had the original Altos I could wander around my entire apartment and not worry about it staying connected to my laptop near the center.
And the answer to your other question is no, they have no connector to allow them to be used as a wired headphone. But if you get a rechargeable bluetooth transmitter you could use them with your Victor Reader, I do that all the time with my current wireless earbuds.
And to counter what that other guy (what's his name?) said, in noisy environments where they can sometimes be hard to hear, when I really needed to hear them, all it took was to momentarily place a hand over one ear that included the speaker in the temple under the hand. Not exactly ideal, but then in noisy environments, the only thing that might be ideal would be in ear or over the ear headphones and that is even less ideal because now you can't be entirely aware of what's going on around you. I'll take the momentary hand over the ear over that any day.
And for privacy, it's true that if you play them at maximum volume, other people close to you might be able to hear what you are hearing, but in an environment where that would be possible, it's not necessary to play them that loud, so it makes that problem less likely to be a problem.

I would be very wary of that claim to being able to get 60 feet away from the source, typically 10 meters or 30 feet is the range for bluetooth, to get that 60 foot range, he must have some really ideal conditions.
I know that when I get about 30 feet away from the source, the frames I used to have along with every other bluetooth headphone or earphones I've had, reception would start cutting in and out.

What is the range of the bluetooth glasses? Also this is probably a dumb question but can they be used with a nonbluetooth device such as a Victor reader?

I'm not willing to pay full price but I have a few friends who have them and pretty much rave about them, and just based on what they say it sounds like this sale price will be a real steal.

Hi all,
If any of you have the Bose bluetooth sunglasses what's the difference in the different types, tenor, soprano, sports etc? They're half off now and I'm thinking about getting a pair but I don't know the difference in the types.
Thanks.
