Yes, titanium could be a great solution for canes. 

I recall commercials for  eyeglasses with titanium frames,

They suggested you could sit on the frames and they would remember the correct shape.

Still sounds expensive to me.

I think there would be titanium canes on the market by now if it were a viable solution.

I like constant contact, and these canes have a rolling tip you can screw on, but the tip is way too small, and it sticks in everything it can possibly get stuck into, and it feels very rough.  Barry said it has something to do with the angle I use it at, and he said there are a few people who have said that, but others think it’s fine.  I’m really disappointed, because I thought I was getting something really good.  Pam.

I wonder could Pam's cane actually be too short?  Maybe a longer cane

would get a flater angle but I can't predict what a flater angle would do

in her case.

The two canes I have and use are folding canes from Ambutech.  They have ball tips that are about the size of a tennis ball, and they roll smooth and if they get stuck in anything, it has to be a really big hole.  I had tried the NFB’s carbon fiber telescopic canes in the 1990s.  I wasn’t doing constant contact at that time, because the rolling tips hadn’t come out yet.  Too many of the carbon fiber canes broke easily, even though they were advertised not to break.  The first time George had one break, he called, and actually spoke to Mark Maurer.  That apparently was the first time they had heard of one of them breaking.  He asked George to send it back.  He wanted to see it.  I liked the lightness of the canes, so I was sad when I had to go back to metal folding canes, but then, I bought the first rolling tip, which was like a wheel from an inline skate.  Pam.

Carbon fiber is very strong and I think a carbon fiber cane that breaks would be rare or very rare.

Nope; they break all the time around here.  They are similar to the fiberglass ones.  But they are said to be carbon fiber.  They are the tubular ones.  Pam.
