Chrome startup
Howard Traxler
seems like just lately, every time I start chrome, all the tabs are
open from the last few times. How can I make them go away. I will
go to them when I want them. Not to be bugged by all that stuff
opening whenever I start chrome. Maybe it's time to change
browsers ... ... again? HELP!

I'm trying to encourage people to use search settings, available in
all the popular web browsers. You already know that what you want
to do involves tabs. Do the following:

Open the menu with alt f, hold alt and type f. You are in a search field. If your browser doesn't automatically go into forms mode or focus mode, press enter. Type tab and start tabbing around the results. After a number of tabs, you will get to something that may say startup grouping and then it will say one of three things. Open a new tab, continue where you left off, or open a specific page or set of pages. These aren't necessarily just what you will hear but it is either close or what you will hear. Work with the radio buttons the way you do on a web page. If you have problems, let us know. Gene On 12/6/2022 4:41 PM, Howard Traxler

When I do alt-F I get the main menu which is a column of all the
stuff. Not a search box nor a tab.

I said to do alt f and then type s. You will then be in settings.
If you up or down arrow through the items if you do alt f, you will
also get to settings. There is only one menu in Chrome and
Chrome-based phones and you open everything from that one menu.

I see that I wrote an incorrect instruction. I said to type f after
you open the menu. I meant to write type s for settings. Sorry
about the error. That's alt f, then s.

OK Gene, no problem. My world doesn't revolve around the browser; just my next planet. Here we go:

Well Gene, thanks. I think I solved the problem. Problem that Chrome presented as a feature. When I started Chrome, it presented a few tabs that I had open on previous runs. So I closed those tabs beefore closing Chrome and now it seems that all's well. Chrome opens to a fresh screen at my chosen search engine.
