File unlocker

Laz

Hey everyone,

I used to have this small program which would unlock stubbormly locked
files but lost it in a drive crash. I googled it and although the site
is still there none of the download links seem to work. It was called
either unlocker or file unlocker. Does anyone have this file?

Stay safe,

Laz

Hi. I have it and have attached it. Don't know if the list accepts attachments but if not I'll upload to Sendspace. I've zipped the file as some ISPs don't like folk attaching x files. If it doesn't show, let me know and I'll upload it. Walter.

Apparently the list was set up to not allow attachments so I would
appreciate that download link.

Thanks and stay safe,

Its important that when you are a free Send Space user, you shouldn't directly activate the download button. Doing so will show you advertising and some of it may be hacked. The hacked advertising may try to place malware on your machine.

Right click the button, its really a link that looks like a button, and use save target as, save link as, or whatever your screen-reader calls that feature. The file will download and you won't be shown advertising.

Hi. I'm fortunate that I've had a paid for Sendspace account since late 2006 although I do tend to use Open Drive more than Sendspace. Strangely Sendspace is in denial when it comes to virus and other infections, they always blame the end user. Walter.

Perhaps Walter could place the file on wetransfer.com for all to grab? If
he does, it will be available for up to seven days. After placing the file
on wetransfer.com, he can send the link to the list. I think this could be
a much better arrangement than SendSpace?

Hi. I don't use Wetrans but I do have an Open Drive account.

I don't know why Defender flagged the file but I use avast and have
installed the file on 4 computers and on others before they were
reinstalled. I've never had a flag when installing at any time nor have I
experienced problems after installation. Anyhow for those who are
interested then I've uploaded the zipped file and also the .x file so you
can try both and see what happens. The first link is for the zipped file:
https://od.lk/d/OV8xNzg3NTMwMDZf/Unlocker1.9.1-x64.zip

Now the .x file.
https://od.lk/d/OV8xNzg4MTIyMjBf/Unlocker1.9.1-x64.exe

I'd be grateful if somebody lets me know of their experience. Walter.

HI  Walter,

I did not get a flag from Windows Security in Windows 10, but when I downloaded it, I got first a download prompt to install Flash Player and immediately thereafter, I got a warning from Firefox and I exited out of both the warning and the Flash download prompt.  Flash has been discontinued as of earlier this year. I wonder did File Unlocker have some sort of bundle or prompt to install Flash when you originally downloaded it years ago?

Hi Ron. Thanks for the information. That is interesting. The file I have is the file Carlos, the former owner of this list provided so it is an old file. However I didn't get any of what you got when I installed it, very curious. Walter.

Subject: Re: [TechTalk] File unlocker

Perhaps Walter could place the file on wetransfer.com for all to grab? If
he does, it will be available for up to seven days. After placing the file
on wetransfer.com, he can send the link to the list. I think this could be
a much better arrangement than SendSpace?

Sincerely,
Olusegun

Now the .x file.

thanks Mike! Windows Defender did the same. I then had to outsmart it
and unchecked one item in the settings unzipped it anew, and was able
to install it successfully. Then I went back into the Windows Defender
settings and checked that item. I was finally able to delete that
stubbornly locked folder!

My thnks to everyone who made the installation files available!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Unfortunatley Windows Defender announced this file wasn't virus free
and deleted it. So if anyone has a clean file or the portable version
please share it.

Stay safe,

Its important that when you are a free Send Space user, you shouldn't
directly activate the download button. Doing so will show you
advertising
and some of it may be hacked. The hacked advertising may try to place
malware on your machine.

Right click the button, its really a link that looks like a button, and
use
save target as, save link as, or whatever your screen-reader calls that
feature. The file will download and you won't be shown advertising.

Apparently the list was set up to not allow attachments so I would
appreciate that download link.

Thanks and stay safe,

Hey everyone,

I used to have this small program which would unlock stubbormly locked
files but lost it in a drive crash. I googled it and although the site
is still there none of the download links seem to work. It was called
either unlocker or file unlocker. Does anyone have this file?

Stay safe,

Laz

If you downloaded it from Send Space and didn't right click the button and use save target as or save link as, whatever your program calls the feature, who knows what hacked advertising you may have had try to download material. Send Space is notorious for having hacked advertising off and on and if you are a free user, you should right click the button, which is really a link that is coded to appear as a button, and use Save target as, or whatever your browser calls the feature. That way, you will avoid all advertising.

It is very important that those offering material via Send Space provide this information when they send a download link.

HI Walter,

I did not get a flag from Windows Security in Windows 10, but when I
downloaded it, I got first a download prompt to install Flash Player and
immediately thereafter, I got a warning from Firefox and I exited out of
both the warning and the Flash download prompt. Flash has been
discontinued as of earlier this year. I wonder did File Unlocker have
some sort of bundle or prompt to install Flash when you originally
downloaded it years ago?

I don't know why Defender flagged the file but I use avast and have

Hi Gene,

I always do what you described. I never got an installation dialogue before from Send Space.  What used to happen is I would get a 'bark' screen to download the latest and greatest whatever and I of course would exit the 'bark' screen.
