speakers are not announcing scores
heather albright
Hay, has anyone had this issue, I tried all three assistant devices to get scores from the games. So google, echo and siri would only tell me the times for the games. But no scores for any games. So I do not think all three are having issues, I am thinking someone bought the rights to the score board. Anyone have an answer? Cheers Heather

I don’t have the answer, but I am having the exact problem. I only have an iPhone and an Echo Dot, but neither are giving college football scores.

Heather, I only follow basketball, American football and baseball.
Whenever I need the scores for a particular game, I would invoke the wake-up word; then I'd say something like: "Score of X&X Game, where X&X equals the name of the team." Example: I'm in both Broncos and Seahawks country. My question would be worded like this after waking up my toy: "Score of Seahawks Game." I always get a response. Please note that I'm in My Shiny Android Toys World. As such, I use either GoogleAssistant or my GoogleHome Smart toy! Hope this helps somewhat. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

"All of that worked until today." Hmm, I'm not experiencing what you're reporting. For example, the last Broncos game was on October 1. I woke up GoogleAssistant on my toy phone, then asked: "Score of the last Broncos game." Answer: "They won against the Jets 37-28 on October 1st." Perhaps you need to reboot your toy(s) for a new reset. Again, I'm in Androidville, can't do any testing on iOS! Testing on my Google Home toy produced the same results as recorded above. My tests were done 30 seconds apart. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

I don't follow any of the big 4. I just asked my google homemini about the broncos and the seahawks. It gave me the scores for their most recent games.

But they do not give the current scores like they used to, just the times of the games and who is playing who. So I just asked the score of the ou texas game and they said the game was at 11 am. Today, when they should say say the played texas and the won and the final score. They have lsu playing the game last week instead of the game agains Missouri beat lsu 45 41. All 3 speaker systems do not have the scores’ current scores. SO something is up with this. I do not need last week’s scores, I want today’s scores. Heather

I did reboot the 3 systems and get the same results. I wonder if this crap is going to carry over the nfl scores. I can only watch one game at a time and some games I want to watch are not playing in my region. I want my score board back seriesly! Heather

So ask your speaker for the score to the score of the ou texas game, she will not give it! I just wonder if this is going to carry over to Sunday. That makes me want to know who the heck bought the score board. And that should be a crime. Heather

It may be that this has changed. it may also be some sort of technical difficulty. People are used to services relying on the Internet to be reliable. That doesn't mean that one should jump to conclusions when something may just be down.

I did a search for something like no scores for college games using alexa and got no results in the first roughly six result links I read. I also did a broader search for something like no scores for college games using voice assistants. Again, I got no results in something like the first six. You would expect that if a major change had occurred, stopping access, that it would be a major news story. College sports are big news. Seeing nothing makes a major change even more unlikely. Of course, something may have happened but at this point, from what I didn't find, it appears unlikely. Gene

We'll see what happens regarding the digital assistant problem. Meantime, here is a site with yesterdays scores.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-scores-ncaa-top-25-rankings-week-6-no-5-notre-dame-no-8-unc-hold-off-feisty-opponents/live/ There is a small article and then the scores are given below. The article contains some scores but I think more are presented below it. I haven't looked at the site in general. I found it by searching for college football scores October 10. If you have trouble finding scores for other days, let us know. There are so many sources of information on the Internet that if one isn't available for some reason for a popular activity such as this, it is very likely another will be found that is either as good or rreasonable. Heather, I haven't tried out my toys for college football; I've not been
able to monitor much of what's going on in that world for the most part. Typically, I would follow Indiana University Bloomington, or a Big10 Game of some kind. Why? I am an IU alumnus! I'm a tad too slow keeping up with which college conference is playing football, which ones are waiting till Spring 2021, etc. For NFL, I am able to GET THE SCORE of any game in progress no matter where it's played. The examples I shared were for games that had already taken place. At 11:00 A.M. Mountain Time, I plan to listen to Jaguars/Texan game, but I will frequently check scores of other games around the league. I'm paying particular attention to the Chiefs and Raiders and sort of wonder why I have not chosen to listen to that game. When my teams are not playing, I pick a game at random from the available list. Sea Hawks pitch against The vikings today at about 6:20 P.M. MT; I'll have my daily driver toy in Airplane mode so no calls prey on my attention. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

Heather wrote in part:
"So ask your speaker for the score to the score of the ou texas game, she will not give it!" Please help me a bit if you can. When was the game played this year? I asked because I got scores to an OU/Texas game back in December 2019. Again, I'm not actively monitoring college football due to Covid19 issues. That said, I do love college football and hope to listen to a game or two soonest. I'm not sure I know what I'm doing right or wrong, but I'm able to grab info from all my Shiny Android smart toys with no problems. As Gene pointed out, there may be a glitch of some kind on a temporary basis; such glitches can be regional although I have no data to back up my thinking in this regard. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

Siri is not announcing the scores either. I just asked her what the score was in the Raiders/Kansas city game, and she just said the time the game started.
Before today, she would always tell the current score.
