Unlocking Braille Sense U2
Joe Orozco
Hi,
I've got an interesting issue with my Braille Sense U2. None of the keys will work. The device is not locked; I've checked to make sure all keys are unlocked. I can turn the unit on. After the Power On message, it will show me the File Manager item on the main menu. None of the typing keys will work. If I use the Down scroll key, it will toggle between 6 and 8 dot mode. I thought it might be in one handed mode, but I've turned on the unit holding down the F4 key, and this has not changed anything. I've tried resetting the unit. That also has not helped. I only know how to reset the unit using the reset button in the back of the device. If there's a more definitive means of resetting to factory default, I don't know how to do this. I've called HIMS, but there's no telling when they'll get back to me. Any guidance on this would be very much appreciated. Joe

I randomly figured it out. Use F1 plus T. The unit chimed, and my keys

started working again. I have no idea what F1 T does. I literally just tried a random keystroke, but there you go, in case it ever happens to you.

Hi, good to hear you fixed it. I too have no idea what that keystroke is for.

If you ever need it the reset that loses all your settings is pressing the reset while holding down the forward media key. You hold down the forward key until you hear the music then let it go. This setting has gotten me out of most problems. You lose all your settings but don't lose your files or email settings or info. Hope this helps. From Shaz. Canberra, Australia.

Hi,
Sorry digging up an old thread but this has happened to someone I know... I think the T key is 2,3, 4 and 5 pressed together but not sure what the F1 is (perhaps the first rectangle key). Perhaps someone can confirm.
